Common questions about how Pricendex tracks competitors and responds to undercuts.
- What does Pricendex do?
- Pricendex monitors the competitor product pages you choose and alerts you by email the moment a competitor's price drops below yours. You can optionally let Pricendex automatically lower your Shopify price in response, within a floor you set.
- Do I need a Shopify store?
- Importing products automatically and using auto-adjustment both require a connected Shopify store. You can also add products manually without connecting Shopify, though manual products can't use auto-adjustment since Pricendex has no store to write the price back to.
- How does undercut detection work?
- Pricendex checks each tracked competitor URL once a day. When a competitor's price transitions from at-or-above yours to below yours, that's an undercut — you get an email alert with the details.
- What is auto-adjust, and is it AI-driven?
- No — auto-adjust is a fixed rule you configure per product, not AI or dynamic pricing. If a competitor undercuts you, Pricendex can drop your price by a fixed dollar amount or percentage, but never below the price floor you set. If you don't set a rule, you'll only get the alert.
- How many competitors can I track?
- Every account can track up to 20 competitor URLs, shared across all the products and stores in your organization, with no limit on the number of products.
- How does the free trial work?
- New accounts get a 30-day free trial. A payment method is required at signup, and your card is charged automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel first. See our Refund and Cancellation Policy for details.
- Does Pricendex respect a competitor site's robots.txt?
- Yes. Before scraping a tracked page, Pricendex checks that site's robots.txt and will not access a page that's disallowed for automated access. Requests identify themselves with a distinct user agent rather than posing as a regular browser.
